Riesen Sheep Station
Our operation runs 90 head of quality ewes, 40 of which are primarily used for producing show quality lambs, while the remaining 50 produce commercial lambs. We have been in the sheep business since 2004 and have built our herd mainly by retaining our best ewe lambs as replacements.
As a husband and wife team we do all of the work ourselves with the help of our wonderful children. They are compensated for their efforts every spring by getting first choice of the new show lamb crop.
In addition to sheep, we are in the process of building up a small herd of fainting goats. Each spring we retain our fainting goat doelings. Our goal for our goat herd is 10 to 15 does. We enjoy fainting goats not only as pets, but also comic relief.
Every operation should have a few animals that are just there for fun. We have Rocky, our miniature horse, and 3 llamas that "guard" the livestock.
We also house about 50 chickens for those delicious farm fresh eggs, 10 or so guineas to keep the snakes away, and a few ducks just because they are fun.
Thank you for visiting our site and we hope you enjoy!! If you are in the market for a quality, local raised, show lamb that is sure to earn a high placement at your fair, a butcher lamb, a nice fainting goat for a pet, guinea chicks, or farm fresh eggs, please contact us. Depending on the season we should have something for you.
